CJ introduces alert system for lawyers

-

PUTRAJAYA: Lawyers no longer have to wait for hours in courtroom while waiting for their cases to be called up at the Palace of Justice as they can now monitor it through a new alert system, the Queue Management System.

Chief Justice Tan Sri Richard Malanjum said lawyers would be alerted of their cases being called up through information displayed on a television screen at the Palace of Justice.

The system, he said, would convenience lawyers as they could plan their time or attend to other cases while waiting for their matter to be heard.

“When they (lawyers) come in, they sit there and wait for hours or whole day. They cannot drink or contact their office. It’s not fair for them,” he said.

He said the screen would display case numbers, parties involved and the status of the cases concerned and in which court, the Federal Court or the Court of Appeal.

The system would also be introduced at the Kuala Lumpur and Shah Alam Court Complex, he added.
