Turkey’s inflation jumps 25pc in Sept
ANKARA: Turkish inflation surged nearly 25 per cent last month from a year earlier, official data showed yesterday, hitting its highest in a decade and a half and underscoring the deepening impact of a currency crisis on the economy and consumers. The lira weakened immediately after the release of the data, which was far higher than forecast. The currency was at 6.0633 to the US dollar at 0717GMT. Inflation rose 24.52 per cent last month from a year earlier, the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute showed.
