of stadiums with only a handful of fans turning up to watch Malaysia Cup group matches this season have had the competition’s sponsor, Yakult Malaysia Sdn Bhd, concerned.

However, the situation has somewhat improved as the competition entered the quarter-finals stage with more fans turning up at the stadiums to support their teams.

Yakult Malaysia managing director Hiroshi Hamada is calling on fans to bring added cheer and excitement to the Malaysia Cup semi-final matches, which promise to be exciting encounters, by thronging the stadiums.

Terengganu FC are scheduled to take on defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) while seven-time champions Perak will face three-time runners up Sabah.

“The presence of supporters at the stadiums will definitely create an electrifying atmosphere as well as an aura that will elevate the performances of the teams.

“There is a Japanese saying which goes, ‘The real fans are the ones who shape a player’.

“I am hoping that football fans will continue to fill the stadiums around the country and show their full support for their favourite teams,” said Hamada.
