POLICE will probably call in Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor to have her statement recorded in connection with investigations into the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the questioning would concern issues involving the investigation.

“There is a possibility that we would call her in for questioning on various matters investigated by the police pertaining to the 1MDB scandal,” he said during a visit to Putrajaya Hospital in conjunction with the country’s 211th Police Day.

Present were Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Noor Rashid Ibrahim and Putrajaya Hospital director Datuk Dr Nora’i Mohd Said.

Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had been called up three times before this by police and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) regarding 1MDB.

Rosmah had since been questioned three times by MACC, with the latest on Wednesday, where she was subsequently arrested after having her statement taken.

Rosmah was called in for the first time in June.

She was then called in again to have her statement recorded by MACC on Sept 26.

On Wednesday, Najib was questioned for more than three hours by officers from the Anti-Money Laundering Unit at Menara KPJ in Jalan Tun Razak.

On May 22, Najib was called in for the first time to have his statement recorded by the MACC.

He was questioned for four hours in connection with investigations into transactions involving SRC International Sdn Bhd when it was a subsidiary of 1MDB.

Two days later, he was asked to present himself again and this time, he was questioned for seven hours.

Najib has since been charged with several counts under the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorism Financing Act 2001.

On the development of the investigation involving former 1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy, Fuzi said the investigation papers had been completed.

“We have contacted the deputy public prosecutor and the investigation papers will be sent to him.

“This is for the purpose of completing the investigation only,” he added.

Previously, it was reported that the Federal Commercial Crimes Investigation Department had obtained a statement from Arul Kanda concerning a series of lectures by him on 1MDB before the 14th General Election.

On businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, he said another red notice had been issued by Interpol yesterday.

“The notice issued yesterday not only contained his name but also his father’s name,” he said.
