Neighbour almost died finding teen

-

PUCHONG: A man almost lost his life looking for missing teenager Muhammad Ilham Fahmy Mohammad Azzam, who drowned in a mining pool in Taman Putra Perdana here on Wednesday.

Khairul Anwar Mohd Salleh, 47, a neighbour of the victim, said he rushed to the scene with Ilham Fahmy’s father, Mohammad Azzam Naim, at 5pm.

“I went into the water to look for the victim. At first, I dove without a rope, but I floated as the current was strong.

“Then, a friend tied a rope around me before I dove into the water again. Suddenly, I was drawn into a whirlpool and almost drowned.”

He said his friends’ action saved his life.

“They pulled me out after assessing the water flow. We carried out the rescue work while waiting for the firefighters. No one was fishing there.”
