MPB, Mercy Malaysia launch fund for Palu

KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd and the Malaysian Medical Relief Society (Mercy Malaysia) yesterday launched Bantuan Bencana Palu to help victims of the quake and tsunami that hit Sulawesi on Friday.

Media Prima said the aim is to raise donations to fund Mercy Malaysia’s humanitarian mission. It said the 7.5-magnitude earthquake and tsunami caused extensive damage in Palu, leaving thousands of people homeless and without food and medical supplies.

“Residents need food and medical treatment. The fund will enable Mercy Malaysia to deliver humanitarian aid to Palu.”

It said contributions would be used to buy medicine and food, and for community rehabilitation.

Donations can be made to Mercy Humanitarian Fund’s Maybank account (5621 7950 4126) or Mercy Malaysia’s CIMB account (8000 7929 08). Donations are tax exempt.
