Cops seize RM1.5m worth of drugs from couple

-

GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested a couple and seized RM1.5 million worth of drugs, along with three firearms, in a raid on an apartment in Bukit Dumbar here on Monday night.

State deputy police chief Datuk Roslee Chik said during the raid, police also found 80 live bullets in the unit on the 15th floor.

Roslee said the couple, aged 43 and 52, were believed to be syndicate members tasked with looking after the drugs — 21,268g of syabu, 21,700 pil kuda, 4g of heroin and 40 Erimin 5 pills.

“The drugs are meant for the local market.

“However, due to the excess in supply from Myanmar, not all of them could be sold.

“The excess in supply has resulted in a drop in prices.”

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1971 and Section 8(a) of the Firearms Act 1960.
