Star Elite roast Ah Paw Chicken Rice in final

ELITE A (SEA) were in great appetite for a title at the Negri Sembilan table tennis championsh­ips recently.

The SEA team showed enough bite to beat Ah Paw Chicken Rice (APCR) 3-2 to win the men’s team event final and take home the Mega 3 Cup at the SJK (C) Kelpin hall in Seremban.

In the 5-singles matches final, SEA’s Danny Ng Wann Sing overwhelme­d APRC’s Paw Kick Sin, 111,11-6,11-4 but SEA’s Loi Daeren lost to APRC’s Paw Chen You 8-11, 7-11, 9-11.

In other matches, SEA’s Tan Yi Heng lost to APRC’s Paw Chen Jun 11-5, 9-11,11-8, 9-11,6-11, but Danny beat Chen Jun 11-7, 11-4,119 and Yi Heng overcame Kick Sin 11-1,11-5,12-10.

En route to the final, SEA beat Sungei Pelek A 3-1 while APCR defeated Putra Perdana B 3-1.

SEA were powered by national juniors Tan Yi Heng and Danny Ng as well as Kuala Lumpur state player Loi Daeren.

SEA team manager Ng Chun Guan said: “Before the final started, we felt we had a 50-50 chance of winning. The players have been training together for the past five years.

A total of 32 men’s and five women’s teams from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negri participat­ed in the two-day meet.

Negri Sembilan Table Tennis Associatio­n honorary secretary Yew Hoo Sang said: “Compared to 2016, we managed to attract more Malay and Indian players this year.”
