Ten ‘outstandin­g’ athletes

junior athletes received the “Most Outstandin­g Junior Athletes” awards at the Penang Sports Club’s annual Patron’s Nite in George Town recently.

The juniors, who are below 18 years old, had excelled in their respective sports in 2017,

They received their awards from the club’s Patron and Head of State TYT Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, in the presence of his consort Toh Puan Majimor Shariff.

The recipients were Chan Li Ying, Aqira Erin Ziyi Clark, Madeleine Khoo, Chan Yu Chi, Amandeep Singh Atwal Sarbjit Singh Atwal, Chan Soon Keat, Vivek Balakrishn­an, Gautam Balakrishn­an, Ishaan Singh Harjit Singh, Angel Ooi Jie Han (table tennis), Kalvinderj­it Singh Harcharan Singh (hockey), and Bryan Lee Ewe Chuen (tennis and karate).

All these junior athletes were podium finishers at their national schools championsh­ip, while some were even selected to represent the country.

Bryan Lee, 14, was outstandin­g in two sports — karate and tennis.

Kalvinderj­it, 12, made his father Harcharan Singh, an ex-national player, proud, with his award.
