-

KUALA LUMPUR: Flags will be flown at half-mast at all Fire and Rescue Departments until tomorrow.

The Fire and Rescue Department said the Bomba, Jalur Gemilang and state flags would be flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and appreciation for the six firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty on Wednesday.

The department expressed its gratitude and appreciation to everyone who extended messages of condolence to the fallen heroes.

“The support and concern shown are appreciated.

“This strengthens the resolve of our firefighters to continue giving their all to the rakyat.”

The department said it would do its best to ensure that the welfare of the six divers’ next of kin was taken care of.

In the incident on Wednesday, the six drowned during a searchand-rescue operation to locate a teenager at a mining pool in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong.

They were Adnan Othman, Mohd Fatah Hashim, Izatul Akma Wan Ibrahim, Mazlan Omarbaki, Muhammad Hifdzul Malik Shaari and Yahya Ali.

Adnan and Hifdzul were attached to the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Department, while the other four were attached to the Port Klang station. Their remains were laid to rest yesterday.

The body of the teenager, Muhammad Ilham Fahmy Mohammad Azzam, was found yesterday afternoon and laid to rest the same day at the Taman Putra Perdana Muslim cemetery.
