Hadi merely expressing his opinion, says Dr M

KUALA LUMPUR: Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang was merely expressing his opinion when he urged Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to serve out his five-year term as prime minister.

“That is his opinion. This is a free country,” Dr Mahathir said after chairing Pakatan Harapan’s presidential council meeting here yesterday.

Dr Mahathir is chairman of PH and its component party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

On Sept 29, Hadi said Dr Mahathir should be given the opportunity to administer until the end of his five-year term.

He said efforts by some quarters, including PKR presidentelect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, to take over as prime minister were not in accordance with “political morals”.

“We don’t want a person with lust to rule for fear that when he or she becomes a leader, the person will not shoulder the responsibility entrusted upon him or her.

“So, let the present prime minister administer the country for as long as he can perform the task,” said Hadi.

“Even though there are differences in opinion, Dr Mahathir should be given enough time because he has experience and is capable of discharging his duties.”
