PMO names new Petronas CFO, appoints directors
KUALA LUMPUR: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has announced the appointment of new members to Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) board of directors, effective October 15.
They are Datuk Siti Zauyah Md Desa, the Treasury deputy secretary-general (policy) and Zakiah Jaafar, director of Macroeconomic Division at the Economic Planning Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.
PwC partner Tengku Muhammad Taufik Tengku Aziz will also join Petronas as board member and succeed Datuk Manharlal Ratilal as chief financial officer.
On August 1, Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh was appointed chairman of Petronas’ board with immediate effect, while Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin remained as president and chief executive officer.
Ahmad Nizam replaced Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan who completed his tenure on June 30. Sidek was appointed Petronas chairman on July 1, 2012.
In early July, Petronas appointed Ainul Azhar Ainul Jamal to its board of directors. Ainul Azhar was chairman and director of Schlumberger Malaysia.
The New Straits Times previously reported that Petronas could be facing several changes in its boardroom following the outcome of the 14th General Election.
Before Sidek left, the report said Mohd Omar Mustapha, chairman of Petronas’ remuneration committee, had tendered his resignation effective June 30 this year.
