Man in French street slap video gets jail

PARIS: A man caught on camera slapping a young woman on a street here after she berated him for making lewd comments was given a sixmonth custodial sentence on Thursday. Video footage of the man, 25, attacking student Marie Laguerre, 22, outside a cafe in July went viral on social media. It showed him picking up an ashtray and hurling it at her, and then hitting her face. The defendant, who has been jailed for pimping and violence against his mother, admitted to the attack, but denied making lewd remarks.
