Late father’s advice spurs Hasni

- Malik Muhamad

advice from his late father has spurred Terengganu right back Hasni Zaidi Jamian to play his heart out when the Turtles meet defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in their Malaysia Cup semi-final second leg at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Baru on Oct 20.

Hasni Zaidi said his father had reminded him to take good care of himself and work hard so that he may achieve success, and the advice still rings in his ears even though his father had passed away on Aug 17 while performing The Haj in Mecca with his mother.

“When we meet JDT, the team from my home state of Johor, if I am entrusted by the coach to play the all-important match, believe me when I say I will go all out to help Terengganu reach the final.

“However, if I am not part of the first-eleven, I will not be disappointed, in fact I will still be happy as we managed to make it to the semi-finals, and I will be urging on my teammates from the bench.

The 28-year-old who hails from Felda Tenggaroh 1 in Johor, has been warming the bench over the past two months because of a reoccurring injury.

“Now I am as ready as I can be to be fielded, and I am confident that our team can advance to the final even though we carry a very slim advantage from the first leg which we won 1-0.

“Such confidence stems from the fact that the team are in good spirits and most of us are like brothers, so all of us are very motivated to be crowned as Malaysia Cup champions,” stressed Hasni Zaidi.
