AMAN was killed after crashing into Sungai Muda in a paragliding accident in Kuala Muda, Kedah, at 8am yesterday. Kuala Muda district police chief Assistant Commissioner Adzli Abu Shah said the incident occurred shortly after Muhammad Khairunnaim Abdullah, 30, and his friend took off from Dataran Dato Ali Yahaya here.

He said the victim’s paramotor stopped working after five minutes, forcing him to crash-land in Sungai Muda.

“Villagers rushed over and found the victim’s body drifting in the water.

“Early investigation showed that the victim was a member of a registered paragliding association. He was a qualified paraglider and received permission from the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) to fly.”

Adzli said the paramotor would be sent to DCA to determine the cause of engine failure.

The case has been categorised as sudden death.
