Thousands at sports day
KUALA LUMPUR: Thousands thronged the Bukit Jalil National Stadium here yesterday for the official National Sports Day 2018 celebration.
Youths and sports enthusiasts and families began arriving at 6am for the event, which was launched by Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
Present were Dr Mahathir’s wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, cabinet ministers and event organisers. The opening ceremony saw Syed Saddiq coming in via “flying-fox” to present the event flag to Dr Mahathir.
The day will see 33 sports activities being held on a massive scale, including an aerobic variation challenge, a fit2go workout challenge, cycling, skateboarding, BMX racing, parkour demonstrations and a mini-bike show.
