Kit Siang urges BN to return 1MDB funds to Treasury Dept

-

NILAI: DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang has urged Barisan Nasional to return funds that originated from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) so that they can be channelled back to the people.

He said former MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek, in 2013, should have questioned the source of the money received from former BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak as 1MDB was already a big issue then.

“So I think all BN parties, including Umno, MCA, Gerakan, MIC and those in Sabah and Sarawak, need to return the 1MDB funds.

“Give them back to the Treasury (Department) so that all the money can be returned to the people,” he said after the “National Seminar: The Islamic Vision in the New Malaysia Aspiration” in conjunction with the 47th general assembly organised by the Muslim Youth Movement of Malaysia (Abim) here yesterday.

Present were Abim president Mohamad Raimi Ab Rahim and PKR incoming president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Lim was commenting on Chua’s interview with a news portal yesterday that MCA had received funds from Najib in 2013, but was not aware of where the funding came from.

Commenting further, Lim said Chua should have asked about the origin of the money.

“He knew but he said the ‘father ’ had given (the fund), so how?

“If he knew or suspected it was stolen money, why didn’t he ask further?”

Earlier, a news portal reported that Najib had allegedly distributed RM470 million to BN component parties in the 13th General Election, and out of that amount, RM16.5 million was given to MCA.
