GoCar expands Shell tie-up

-

GOCAR Mobility Sdn Bhd (GoCar Malaysia), a homegrown on-demand car sharing mobile application, aims to double its sites from 230 locations.

“We are looking to double our size, but all this again is based on demand from users,” said chief executive officer Alan Cheah recently.

Currently, GoCar Malaysia has 25,000 registered users and more than 500 vehicles. Its fleet consists of a variety of car models like Nissan Almera, Renault Captur, Nissan Serena and Nissan Navara, which are available at 230 locations, across Klang Valley, Johor Baru, Penang and Langkawi.

The company’s services are currently available at 100 Shell stations, the latest of which is at the Taman Connaught kiosk in Cheras.

The collaboration with Shell started in April last year. GoCar’s cars are available at 58 Shell stations in Klang Valley, 30 stations in Johor Baru and 12 stations in Penang. The GoCars at Shell stations have been booked for 210,384 hours and the total travelled distance is 3.9 million kilometres.

“We started out with the focus of providing an alternative solution to the current transportation landscape in Malaysia. We are here to offer the convenience of flexibility to users that need cars for various activities; be it commuting, running errands, or a road trip to Penang. We want to make owning a car an option.

“Through this partnership, we can provide further convenience to our users. They can also enjoy the offerings at Shell stations — from fuels to food and beverages,” said Cheah.

Meanwhile, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd and Shell Timur Sdn Bhd managing director Shairan Huzani Husain said 30 per cent of its customers at Taman Connaught did not own cars.

“The customers come for the Deli2go and other product offerings. We always strive to innovate our products and services to ensure that our customers leave the stations happy and satisfied. Our collaboration with GoCar enables us to offer all Malaysians an additional service.

“Customers can now refuel, refresh, rejuvenate and enjoy the convenience of picking up a GoCar before they start their journeys,” said Shairan.

To celebrate this milestone, GoCar and Shell are offering a promotion from now till December 15 at 30 selected Shell stations.

Customers can enjoy 50 per cent off their GoCar booking, discount capped at RM30 when they spend a minimum of RM5 (for all items excluding Touch ‘n Go reload, mobile reload and tobacco).

Additionally, customers can redeem one can of Coca-Cola when they pick up their GoCar at the Shell stations.
