‘Street Attack’ to promote agricultural exhibition
Agrotourism showcase to run from Nov 22 to Dec 2
THE Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Ministry (MOA) hosted a “Street Attack” programme here yesterday to promote the Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism (MAHA) 2018 exhibition.
The programme was conducted at various locations in the city to attract local and foreign tourists to visit the exhibition, which runs from Nov 22 to Dec 2.
A group of dancers performed the Zapin Pertanian traditional dance and a flash mob at three tourist attractions.
MAHA 2018 secretariat director Azman Mohd Saad said Street Attack was one of the programmes by the ministry to boost the attraction and promotion of the exhibition.
He said at the exhibition, 1,500 stalls selling local food, fruits, plants and many more as well as 501 types of local menus awaited visitors. “MAHA is an event that most local visitors have been waiting for as it provides agriculture and agro-based foods, animals and attractions that use the latest technology."
Visitors can enjoy 501 types of local menus at 13 pavilions in the exhibition.
“To promote the exhibitions in the Klang Valley, the ministry has organised the Street Attack programme in the capital today (yesterday),” he said.
The theme for this year's MAHA 2018 exhibition is Makanan kita, masa depan kita (Our food is our future) and the event will be held for 11 days at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (Maeps).
Azman said 3.5 million visitors were expected to attend the exhibition.
“Apart from the Street Attack, we will organise a motorbike convoy, where 300 motorbikes will travel to Perlis from the Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM) headquarters in Puchong, Kuala Lumpur.
“Last year’s event recorded about 3.4 million visitors. Therefore, we want a huge crowd this year. I encourage everyone to bring their family and friends to this event.”
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is expected to launch the exhibition on Nov 22 at 2pm.
