Dolled up in local scarf
FOR the first time in Malaysia, Barbie collaborates with local brand dUCk to create two limited-edition doll-sized dUCk scarves.
A miniature version of dUCk’s latest release from its print collection, the Oriental dUCk, the scarf gives girls a novel way to style their dolls using their creativity and imagination.
The scarf is a gift-with-purchase that can be redeemed with a purchase a minimum of RM100 worth of Barbie products at leading toy, departmental or hyper stores; with the redemption being completed online via www.barbiexduck.com.
The campaign, launched on Oct 1, saw encouraging response from both Barbie and dUCk and fans nationwide. Within the first hour of its launch, there were more than 30,000 interactions, likes and shares via social networks such as Instagram and other social channels.
INSPIRATIONAL VIDEO
To further celebrate the collaboration, Barbie will be releasing a special short video next month, featuring the founder of The dUCk Group, Vivy Yusof.
The video will highlight the entrepreneur’s career, as well as her advice for little girls on how to become a successful entrepreneur.
In line with Barbie’s “You Can Be Anything” campaign, the video aims to inspire young girls to pursue their dreams and be whoever they wish to be when they grow up.
For 59 years, Barbie has inspired and continues to inspire the limitless potential in every girl by encouraging imagination, expression and discovery through play.
With over 200 careers and counting, there isn’t a plastic ceiling Barbie hasn’t broken; from engineers to movie directors, doctors to police, ballerinas to musicians - offering girls the opportunity to play out whatever they can imagine and be anything.
“In Malaysia, we’re delighted to collaborate with The dUCk Group and also Vivy Yusof to inspire girls to be anything they want to be, from a fashion stylist and entrepreneur to a fashion designer - anything they want to be,” said Ivan Franco, country manager of Mattel Southeast Asia.
A mother of three, Vivy was selected as Barbie’s local role model based on her career path which has been an inspiration to many in Malaysia and across Asia.
A law graduate from London School of Economics, she is not only the founder of The dUCk Group but also the co-founder and cief creative officer of FashionValet.
