Malaysia Airports puts a smile on children’s faces

KUALA LUMPUR: More than 680 underprivileged children were treated to an energetic, adrenalinpumping show under the big top of the Swiss Dream Circus recently.

The event, organised by the Rotary Club of Kuala Lumpur DiRaja (RCKL DiRaja) with Malaysia Airports as a proud platinum sponsor, saw the children on the edge of their seats as they watched the talented artistes perform.

Themed “Inspire a Child”, Malaysia Airports committed RM40,000 to take the children to this meaningful event — aimed at bringing a touch of magic in their lives — many of whom have never had the opportunity to watch a circus performance.

The event did live up to its theme. The children were filled with awe and wonder as they watched the magic unfold before them in the form of acrobatic feats, aerial acts and thrilling stunts.

“When Malaysia Airports was first approached by RCKL DiRaja to collaborate in this commendable event, we did not hesitate to extend our support,” said Malaysia Airports acting group chief executive officer Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin.

“Our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, especially under the Education and Youth Leadership pillar, has always been inspiring children to reach for the stars.

“Watching these amazing circus performances — skillful acts perfected from hard work, practice and discipline — has inspired the children to put in the perseverance and dedication to achieve their heart’s desire,” he said.

“After all, this is what matters at the end of the day — giving children the opportunity to experience happiness and showing them that dreams can come true.

“We thank RCKL DiRaja for giving us this opportunity to be part of such a meaningful event.”

Raja Azmi also said more than 140 students from schools adopted by Malaysia Airports under its “Beyond Borders” programme were also invited to the event.

He described how excited the students were upon learning that they were going to the circus.

He also shared how meaningful it was to see the smile on their faces, knowing that their hard work would be rewarded not only with good grades, but also with joyful memories.

Malaysia Airports is one of the largest airport operator groups in terms of passengers capacity. It operates 39 airports in Malaysia and one international airport in Istanbul, Turkey.
