MACC wrapping up probe into Isa
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is expected to take action against former Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad over Felda’s purchase of a hotel in Kuching in 2014.
It is learnt that the investigation paper is being completed by the anti-graft agency over the Istana Merdeka Hotel purchase, which was reported to have exceeded the market value at the time.
Sources said MACC would hand the investigation results to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (A-GC) next week.
“Before this, evidence was insufficient due to limited access, but investigations resumed after new evidence emerged.”
Another source said MACC was looking at other charges against Isa under Section 23 of the MACC Act on abuse of power.
Istana Merdeka is a five-star hotel with 213 rooms, bought by Felda Investment Corporation for RM160 million when it was supposedly worth RM110 million.
