Thailand’s Adisak hammers in six goals

- Jugjet Singh

Kraisorn showed his prowess by scoring six goals in Thailand’s 7-0 thrashing of minnows Timor Leste in Friday’s AFF Cup Group B match at the Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok.

In another group match, fourtime champions Singapore edged Indonesia 1-0 at home.

Bereft of their better known stars likes Teerasil Dangda and Chanatip Songkrasin did not affect Thailand as they controlled possession until the final whistle.

Adisak netted in the third, 13th, 31st, 45th, 50th and 57th minutes with Supachai Jaided completing the rout in the first minute of stoppage time.

“We were very serious about this match and we were not taking them lightly at all,” Thailand coach Milovan Rajevac told www.aseanfootball.org on Friday.

“Timor Leste gave us tough moments but we managed to counter with goals.”

Timor Leste coach Norio Tsukitate said: “My players played below par while Thailand were exceptionally strong in all aspects.”

At the National Stadium in Singapore, captain Hariss Harun scored in the 37th minute to earn the home side three points.

Fandi praised Hariss for his inspiring performance.

“He (Hariss) is a solid captain and was everywhere, he fought for every ball.”

“We knew what we had to do and we did it well. We closed down on their (Indonesia) wingers and stopped the supply,” said Fandi.

Indonesia coach Bima Sakti was puzzled with his team’s erratic performance.

“They were all good in training... I really don’t know what happened today. I think they were not mentally strong. I will have to talk to my players.

“I was surprised with Singapore, particularly their transition from defence to attack.

Indonesia will host Timor Leste in Jakarta while Singapore will travel to Bacolod to take on the Philippines, both on Tuesday.
