GOVT TO CONTINUE PROJECTS WITH 5PC COMPLETED STATUS
Jobs with status of below the percentage to be reviewed and revised
ALL mega projects approved by the previous government, which have surpassed five per cent completion, will be continued under the current administration, said Works Minister Baru Bian.
He said projects with completion status of below five per cent would be reviewed and revised, if necessary, and would follow the Finance Ministry guidelines.
Mega projects currently under review include the RM55 billion East Coast Rail Link, two RM9.4 billion gas pipeline projects, RM60 billion Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail deal, RM16.63 billion Light Rail Transit 3 and RM30.53 billion Mass Rapid Transit 2 projects.
“We will follow the circulars provided by the Finance Ministry where a few projects were suspended and reviewed, depending on current needs and circumstances.
“If they need to be continued, the ministry will review.
“However, at present, any mega project with a five per cent completed status will continue and below that will be revalued,” he said after the Construction Industry Transformation Programme 2016-2020 Midterm Review Announcement, here.
Present were Works Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Zohari Akob and Construction Industry Development Board Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali.
Baru said the mid-term review was conducted in the middle of this year to relook at all initiatives and key performance indicator (KPI) performances, and propose enhancements to ensure the achievement of all CITP targeted outcomes towards and after 2020.
The CITP was launched in 2015 as a national blueprint for the transformation of the construction industry within the implementation period from 2016 to 2020.
In all, the original CITP had nine thrust KPIs, 21 initiatives and 115 active KPIs. Up until the second quarter of this year, the achievements of the 115 KPIs against the target set had been excellent with an overall achievement of 98 percent, said Baru.
