Gearing up firms for Industry 4.0
about Industry 4.0, nobody can implement it single-handedly as it involves various technologies, system integration, interoperability, infrastructure and competencies, to mention a few, in order to merge into the cyber-physical world and to become Industry 4.0 enabled.
We are having discussions and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to collaborate with companies, industry leaders and industry associations.
The CoE operations are through best practices and comprehensive technologybased solutions and standardisation. The CoE is targeted at:
1) Brownfield — existing factory/manufacturing facility; and,
2) Greenfield — innovation/new product to be manufactured;
For brownfield, the Industry 4.0 readiness assessment will be performed to enable businesses to assess where they are, what are the current gaps in their manufacturing line and how they can move into Industry 4.0 through targeted intervention of experienced assessors.
Subsequently, lean management can be applied through machine automation and digitalisation and Internet of Things (IoT) integration that complies with smart manufacturing standards and practices.
For greenfield, we will adopt the regulatory/innovation sandbox concept to design and test the various innovative products which will emphasise various aspects such as create, engage, enable and innovate.
The purpose of the sandbox is to create a new high-value business model at minimal cost, and address industry constraints by creating technology solutions through the CoE approach.
