‘Only local parties know what Sarawakians want’

-

KUCHING: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement that the Sarawak government can be toppled by Pakatan Harapan is not just rhetoric and local parties will prepare for the onslaught, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Wanita chief Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

Fatimah said Sarawak was an important state, which anyone ruling at the federal level would want under its wings.

“You need the political power in Sarawak as it is a state that is not only rich in natural resources, but it also makes large contributions to the country.

“However, based on the 55-year experience under Barisan Nasional and now under PH, it is clear that only local parties understand what the people here want.”

She was commenting on Dr Mahathir’s statement that a change in Sarawak government is possible.

He said Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Sarawak’s entry was due to popular demand from the people in the state.

She said local parties would consider what Dr Mahathir said as a challenge and prepare for the PH onslaught.
