Zahid: BN respects any decision made by partners

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) will respect the decision made by any of its component parties, even if they decide to leave the coalition.

BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said at this moment, there was no official request made by any of the BN component parties regarding the matter.

“There is no official request. Currently, there are three parties in BN and we certainly will respect any decision made by our coalition parties,” he said.

Earlier, Zahid chaired a meeting with Barisan Nasional senators before the start of the Dewan Negara sitting today.

When asked on how BN would get Chinese support in the country should MCA leave, Zahid said BN had its own “method” to get the support of Chinese Malaysians.

“We are confident about MCA’s plans to restructure the party and hope to see changes made by the new leadership and restore its Chinese support,” he said.

“Otherwise, BN has its ways that I don’t need to reveal.”

He also stressed that “not all the Chinese support the current government” 100 per cent, and they were hoping for an alternative, especially with the coming by-election in Rantau and Cameron Highlands, and preparations for the 15th General Election.
