THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has begun investigations into allegations of corruption during the 14th General Election (GE14) in the Cameron Highlands parliamentary constituency.

MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (operations) Datuk Seri Azam Baki said investigation papers had been opened.

“I can confirm that investigation papers have been opened.

“I cannot reveal anything about who is being investigated as it is ongoing.

“If there is any development in the case, we will inform later,” he said.

The Special Election Court had, on Friday, declared the result of the GE14 election in Cameron Highlands, which went in favour of Barisan Nasional, null and void.

Judge Datuk Azizah Nawawi was reported to have made the decision after finding that there were elements of bribery.

Azizah said evidence pointed to Barisan Nasional candidate, Datuk C. Sivarraajh, as either having given money to Orang Asli voters personally, or through Jelai assemblyman and current Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, or his agents, to influence the outcome of the election.

She had said this when ruling in favour of the election petition filed on June 4 by DAP’s M. Manogaran, the Pakatan Harapan candidate for the election.
