Making a digital nation
THE Pixel Studios at the One North district in Singapore may look like a mundane square building, but as you step inside, it’s full of young, creative minds doing research, developing new ideas, new technologies and experimenting with concepts in a fun and colourful set-up.
The 2,322 square metre building offers creative space for online content creators, tech innovators and game developers, to encourage experimentation and the creation of innovative content.
Meanwhile, not far from the building is the AI Singapore, which is the country’s national programme in Artificial Intelligence to catalyse, synergise and boost Singapore’s AI capabilities to power its future digital economy.
On one of the floors, a group of AI enthusiasts are working on the next AI-related technology solutions. Interestingly, they are working freely on the AI solutions that they feel will make an impact, with the guidance of AI mentors, should they need assistance.
AI is seen as one of the emerging technologies that will have an impact in many of our lives in the next few years. An example of AI usage in our daily lives soon would be a refrigerator that would be able to replenish its content such as eggs, milk, etc, by itself.
Another on-going high-tech start-up initiative is also taking place at Unilever Foundry’s LEVEL 3 in the Mapletree Business City area where about 65 start-ups are doing their projects in the areas of food technology, sustainable growth tech, AI, logistics and other areas.
