At the tech showcase area in the building, a startup called ConnectedLife shows how AI, sensors and smart home tech are used in remote monitoring for the elderly, who live alone.
All these are part of the Singapore government’s initiative to build the nation’s digital economy under the big project called SG:D, a short for Singapore Digital movement to unify the country’s digitalisation efforts by encouraging the government, companies, organisations and individuals to work together to thrive in the digital economy.
According to the Info-communications Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) chief executive officer Tan Kiat How, all these are part of the ongoing initiative of the Singapore government’s move towards a digital nation.
IMDA is the body that leads Singapore’s digital transformation with information and communications media. To do this, IMDA will develop a dynamic digital economy and a cohesive digital society, driven by a good infocomm media (ICM) ecosystem — by developing talent, strengthening business capabilities, and enhancing the information and communications media infrastructure.
