CHECK YOUR UV EXPOSURE

-

ONE of the main factors that makes Malaysia a top tourists destination is our sunny weather all year round. However, there are dangers associated with staying under the sun without taking proper precautions.

L’Oreal’s La Roche-Posay My Skin Track UV is the first battery-free wearable electronic device capable of measuring UV exposure. Its integrated sensor will precisely measure individual UV levels while reporting to a companion app which will keep track of the wearer’s exposure to pollution, pollen, and humidity levels. This will help the wearer make more informed choices when it comes to skin health. Measuring both UVA and UVB rays, the My Skin Track UV provides instant status updates while storing up to three months’ worth of data.

A battery-free sensor means there’s no inconvenience of charging yet another piece of wearable technology. This sensor is activated by the sun and powered by the user’s smartphone via near-field communication (NFC) technology. All stored data will be relayed to the accompanying app through an easy single-touch function, where the user only needs to tap My Skin Track UV against their smartphone to have the app updated.

It works seamlessly with Apple HealthKit, offering additional insights into humidity, pollen, and pollution levels. The My Skin Track UV, designed in collaboration with visionary designer Yves Behar, measures 12mm wide and 6mm high. It is waterproof and comes with a sturdy wire clip that can be conveniently attached to clothing or accessories. The My Skin Track UV retails at US$59.95 (about RM251.40).
