PERSONAL AIR CONDITIONER

-

A PERSONAL air conditioner that is smart enough to follow you around. Mobile Comfort Inc has worked alongside the University of Maryland and the US Department of Energy to develop the Roving Comforter (RoCo) targetted for commercial release next year. RoCo is unique as it is not tethered to any wires or cables.

Being a portable air conditioner, it is able to cool the ambient air around the user and delivers targeted cooling up to eight hours without rejecting waste heat or requiring wires and ducts.

RoCo works best for those who are living or working in low density spaces such as residential apartments, small houses, and small office spaces. With the ability to control the thermal environment around individuals while avoiding over-cooling unoccupied areas, overall energy savings of anywhere between 12 to 30 per cent will add up to significant utility savings while offering optimal comfort control. RoCo also has a pleasant aesthetic design.

While details on its pricing and cooling capability remain unknown, it makes perfect sense for the RoCo personal air conditioner to be tested out next summer.
