RM2.8B WORTH OF MOUS INKED
2,083 business opportunities worth RM150 million generated at event
ATOTAL of 26 memoranda of understanding (MoUs), worth RM2.8 billion, were signed at the Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and
Agro Tourism (Maha)
2018 exhibition here.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub said what was more impressive was that the exhibition had generated 2,083 business opportunities through its business-matching programme.
He said there was a difference in Maha this time round as it started off with the “Trade Day”, which introduced foreign traders to local agricultural players.
He said the initiative provided an opportunity for local farmers to establish a stronger international business network. Salahuddin said the 2,083 new business opportunities were worth RM150 million.
“In addition, up to 10am today (yesterday), 3.2 million people have visited Maha and I am confident we can attract 3.5 million visitors.”
This was enough to prove that Maha was well received by the people, he said after the exhibition’s closing ceremony by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail yesterday.
“Maha 2018 not only showcased the country’s agricultural products, but also introduced the latest technologies in agriculture and industry activities.”
