Johor supports revival of crooked bridge proposal

- MAZLAN BUJANG

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor government has agreed in principle to efforts to revive the crooked bridge proposal.

State Works, Infrastructure and Transport Committee chairman Mazlan Bujang said the state government was conducting preliminary studies on the proposal for the third link between Pengerang and Pulau Ubin in Singapore.

“The crooked bridge project is in the early planning stage and several factors have to be considered to ensure that it benefits the people of Johor and reduces costs for the state government,” he said in reply to a question from Ayub Jamil (Barisan NasionalRengit) at the state legislative assembly sitting here yesterday.

Ayub asked for information on the bridge and if it would solve congestion at the Causeway.

Mazlan said the bridge was Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s brainchild when he was the fourth prime minister.

On the third link, he said it would solve congestion on the Causeway and at Tanjung Kupang near Gelang Patah.
