Everything can be solved if you sit down and talk, Umno veteran tells MCA

-

KOTA BARU: Everything can be settled, as long as people sit down to discuss things.

This was the advice of Kelantan Umno Veterans chairman Datuk Rozali Ishak to MCA amid news that members of the Chinesecentric party had voted to dissolve Barisan Nasional.

“All problems can be solved, so we ask MCA to sit down at the table (with other BN component parties) to solve these problems, and not ask for BN to be dissolved.

“If BN is dissolved, none of the problems will be solved.

“MCA should instead find a way to solve the problems,” Rozali said.

Rozali said a roundtable discussion needed to be held between MCA and BN component parties immediately.

He said MCA did not have the right to ask for BN to be dissolved as the latter was the umbrella party.

“If there is no solution (after sitting down for discussions with other BN component party members), then MCA should ask to leave BN, not for BN to be dissolved.

“MCA’s formation in BN is part of history, since the country’s independence.

“So it isn’t that easy to ask for BN to be dissolved.

“MCA wants to leave BN, but it needs to think about things.

“MCA needs to know the proper way of dissolving a coalition (such as BN) as it needs the agreement of all (component) parties, as well as go through several stages,” he said.

On Sunday, MCA delegates voted at the party’s 65th general assembly to empower its central committee to begin the process of dissolving BN and form a new coalition.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong was reported as saying that the decision was unanimous amongst the 1,636 delegates who attended the assembly.
