I’m not a key witness in probe, says former MACC chief
PUTRAJAYA: Former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad yesterday said he is not a key witness in the probe into 1Malaysia Development Bhd’s final audit report.
He said this was because he was not helming the agency at that time (February 2016).
Dzulkifli, who was met after giving his statement at the MACC headquarters, said his presence in the 1MDB final audit report meeting was not as MACC chief, but as a legal officer representing the then Attorney-General’s Chambers.
“In February 2016, I had not been appointed as MACC chief. Therefore, my involvement was not in that capacity, as what was reported in the media.
“I want to clarify that I am not among the key witnesses, because 15 other key witnesses have been summoned relating to the investigation. This means that I am among the last witnesses.”
He said he had given his full cooperation to MACC and confirmed that he would not be called back to have his statement recorded.
He spent five hours with MACC in relation to the probe into allegations that the 1MDB final audit report had been tampered with. He left the MACC headquarters about 3.30pm.
At press time, former auditor general Tan Sri Ambrin Buang was at the MACC headquarters to have his statement recorded relating to the case. He arrived about 2pm.
Ambrin and Dzulkifli are among persons of interest summoned by MACC to assist in its investigations.
