Jamal: Zahid is weak, ineffective

-

KOTA BARU: Kelantan Umno divisions can table a motion for party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down without referring to the state Umno liaison committee.

Its chairman, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakob, said any noconfidence motion on Z a hi d ’s leadership could be decided through a special division meeting before being taken to the Supreme Council.

However, he said, all 14 divisions, including the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings, had pledged support for Zahid.

“The decision (motion for Zahid to quit) is not under the jurisdiction of the state Umno liaison committee as we only supervise the divisions. So they can take the motion directly to the Supreme Council without going through the state Umno.

“All 14 divisions, including the three wings, have pledged to stand firm behind Zahid.

“Kelantan Umno is focusing on strengthening ties with Pas,” he said here yesterday.

Sungai Besar Umno has urged Zahid to step down or take a leave from his post.

Its division chief, Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos, said the decision was taken as the division had lost confidence in Zahid’s leadership for failing to restore members’ faith in the party.

“Sungai Besar Umno is distressed looking at the current political issues. I do not blame anyone, but Sungai Besar Umno has lost confidence in the party president.

“Sungai Besar Umno urges Zahid to retreat or take a rest from the president’s post,” he said in an interview uploaded on WatanOnline.

“Sungai Besar is a division that has been supporting the president, but we hereby announce that we are withdrawing our support for him as we see that the president is unable to address the crisis. I do not blame him but it is clear that he is weak and ineffective.”
