Siti Hasmah dedicates violin performance to fireman Adib
KUALA LUMPUR: It’s not every day that you get to see the wife of Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad display her violin skills in public.
On Saturday, the audience at Konsert Duo Lagenda had the rare chance to watch Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali play the stringed instrument in tribute to fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who died last Monday.
Her performance was dedicated to the 24-year-old, who was supposed to get married on Saturday.
Her performance went viral and saw Dr Siti Hasmah being praised by Netizens.
She displayed her talent during a 20-minute performance, comprising one solo song Fatwa Pujangga and two duets with Datuk Jamal Abdillah and Datuk M. Nasir for the songs Engkau Laksana Bulan and Gubahanku.
Among those who complimented her on social media was Bukit Gelugor member of parliament Ramkarpal Singh, who tweeted: “A wonderful tribute. Siti Hasmah dedicated violin performance to fireman Adib” in a post he shared yesterday.
Facebook user Sharnee Sivam wrote: “She (Dr Siti Hasmah) is classic and full of elegance. Totally respect her...”
Another Facebook user Gerardstamaria complimented the 92-year-old for her noble participation to raise funds, as well as the tribute to Adib.
“What a beautiful and memorable tribute from our First Lady. God bless TDSH,” he wrote.
Adib, 24, was seriously injured in the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple riots in Subang Jaya on Nov 27.
He succumbed to his injuries after 22 days at the National Heart Institute at 9.41pm last Monday.
