Cradle Fund CEO’s 2nd autopsy report out soon
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are confident that they will receive the full report on the second autopsy of Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan soon.
Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Fadzil Ahmat said they were waiting for the report from the medical team.
“There are no new developments (on the murder of Nazrin).
“We are waiting for the medical report on the second autopsy. “We expect to receive it soon.” Last week, the New Straits Times Press had reported that the report on Nazrin’s second autopsy would take time as it was subject to the doctor handling the case.
On June 14, Nazrin, 48, was initially reported to have died after a mobile phone exploded while being charged near his bed, which caused him to be trapped in a bedroom fire at his Mutiara Damansara home.
A forensic investigation by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department later revealed new evidence, which pointed towards foul play.
According to reports, three months prior to his death, Nazrin had lodged four police reports including that of death threats made against him, but he later withdrew the reports. Police investigations found that the threat made through a telephone call was allegedly made by one of Nazrin’s close relatives.
On Sept 4, police arrested Nazrin’s widow, 43, and her exhusband to assist with investigations. She was arrested in Taman Tun Dr Ismail a little over an hour after her ex-husband was picked up in Sepang.
On Sept 8, two teenagers aged 14 and 16, who are Nazrin’s stepchildren, were arrested by police in Taman Tun Dr Ismail to assist investigations. Later that month, police arrested Nazrin’s wife’s younger sister, 39, along with the latter’s 41-year-old husband. All of them were subsequently released.
The Petaling Jaya magistrate’s court had on Oct 1 allowed a police application to exhume Nazrin’s grave to enable a second post-mortem to be carried out to assist investigations into the murder case.
