THT out to turn tables on UniKL

- FIXTURES Malaysia Hockey League Today: Singh Jugjet

Batu Buruk Stadium has been an unlucky home venue for Terengganu Hockey Team (THT) in the Charity Shield.

THT hosted the last three Charity Shield matches at the venue and lost all of them to Kuala Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC).

The club hope luck will be on their side when they entertain Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) today.

THT coach I. Vikneswaran knows that it will not be easy as UniKL will have their foreign players for the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) season opener, unlike in the Alagendra Cup.

“UniKL have many good players and we cannot underestimate them.

“They also have an international goalkeeper from Ireland (David Harte). They start as favourites tomorrow.

“However, we have our own plans and I believe my players have the ability to offer them a tough fight.

“Playing at our home turf is an advantage and with local fans backing us, we hope to get it right this time around,” he said.

UniKL coach Arul Selvaraj hopes to make it fourth time unlucky for THT.

“Two of our foreign players (Valentin Verga and Robert Kemperman) will only arrive after the Charity Shield, but still, we hope to snatch it from THT,” said Arul.
