Kedah FA told to check three areas on Akhyar issue
Kedah FA (KFA) have been advised by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) to look into three aspects concerning Akhyar Rashid’s move to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) before taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
MFL chief executive Kevin Ramalingam said KFA should first look into the clauses of MFL’s constitution, FAM’s statutes, and also Akhyar’s contract.
“From there, they can find solutions and also take the right path concerning Akhyar.
“We have furnished them with the relevant information but the final decision is in their hands,” said Kevin when asked about MFL’s meeting with KFA in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Kevin also confirmed that JDT can register Akhyar for the MLeague by using a temporary release letter.
“Only the FA of Malaysia (FAM) have the authority to issue a temporary release letter.
“JDT have submitted his name to us for registration, but he is now on the standby list.
“I believe Akhyar will be available for the season opening Charity Shield against Perak on Feb 2,” he added.
KFA also have an option to file Akhyar’s case with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC).
KFA vice-president Yusuri Yusof claimed that Kevin offered himself as a mediator if the case goes to CAS, AIAC or Fifa.
“We will check with the respective statutes first before taking the next step,” he said.
