ASON allegedly pointed a meat cleaver at his parents after his mother asked him for some money.

The man has been detained at his family home in Taman Kenari, here, at 9.30pm yesterday.

“The suspect does not have any past criminal records and according to early investigation, he did not admit to being involved in the incident,” Kulim district police chief Supt Ahmad Nasir Jaafar said.

The incident was said to have taken place at 8.30am yesterday where the suspect, 26, got angry when his mother asked for some money to pay expenses.

He then went to the kitchen where he took out a meat cleaver.

“The suspect also warned his parents by saying ‘aku katok sat lagi’ (I will slash you).

“It is believed that this is a common occurrence (in their household), prompting the suspect’s brother to lodge a police report,” Nasir said.

“Further investigation will be conducted after the remand proceedings.

“The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code,” he added.
