RoS de-registers myPPP
PUTRAJAYA: The registration of People’s Progressive Party (MyPPP) has been cancelled by the Registry of Societies (RoS).
Sources said an order notice regarding the de-registration was issued by RoS director-general Masyati Abang Ibrahim.
The order notice was issued in accordance to Section 13(1)(c)(ix) of the Societies Act 1966.
It was issued to Tan Sri M. Kayveas and Datuk Seri Maglin Dennis D’Cruz, both of whom have laid claim to the myPPP presidency.
The D’Cruz faction of the party had begun a move that saw Kayveas expelled from the party.
However, Kayveas had maintained that he was the rightful president and declared that the party had left Barisan Nasional.
The D’Cruz faction, however, stated that it was BN-friendly.
Late last year, RoS sent a notice to myPPP for it to sort out who were the rightful office-bearers.
As a settlement to the dispute had yet be reached, a source said RoS made the decision to de-register the party.
The order notice stated that RoS had considered the matter and the appeal submitted by the party.
“RoS is of the opinion that the appeal did not provide ample reasons.
“The party has been cancelled starting from the date of the notice (Jan 14),” it said.
The notice was also sent to the Insolvency Department, police’s Special Branch and Election Commission chairman.
In Tanah Rata, Kayveas said myPPP would appeal to Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin within the next 30 days.
He said he had received the notice from RoS via email.
“We have 30 days to make an appeal to the home minister.
“The minister can decide whether to accept RoS’ decision or make an amendment on the move.
“The minister can state that he disagrees with the decision.
“After we receive the minister’s decision, we will take the appropriate action,” he said at the Cameron Highlands MyPPP service centre.
