OCBC customers with iPhone X can log into app with just a look

-

KUALA LUMPUR: OCBC Bank (Malaysia) Bhd’s customers who own an iPhone X can now access their mobile banking app through facial biometrics.

OCBC Bank said with its OCBC OneLook, customers could access their accounts as well as view card balances and latest transactions simply by logging in via the facial scanner.

OCBC Bank head of consumer financial services Lim Wyson said the innovation was part of the bank’s broader digital banking journey after the earlier OCBC OneTouch fingerprint authentication method.

“We are on the lookout for new ways to deliver a simpler, more secure and superior banking experience to our customers.

“By leveraging Apple’s Face ID facial recognition technology, our customers can dispense with passwords or fingerprints when doing their everyday banking on our mobile banking app,” he said.

To access the feature, customers need to tap the OCBC OneLook icon on the app’s login screen and then look at the screen to gain access.

To get started, customers must perform a one-time activation via the mobile banking app installed on their iPhone X with Apple’s Face ID running on the iOS12.1 operating system.
