NATIONAL woman solo runner Major Dr Suwaibah Muhammad Nasir is on a mission to conquer the world’s top 30 towers by 2020.

Dr Suwaibah, 46, said she would begin her mission with the Southeast Asian leg of the solo run by climbing three towers in the Philippines at the end of this month, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore, which is 200m high, next month and the Ostankino Tower (540m) in Moscow in April.

Dr Suwaibah, who hails from Kampung Lubuk Rotan Tawar in Tanah Merah, said she would try to complete the Southeast Asian run first and, at the same time, apply to the authorities of other designated countries to carry out the “Humanitarian Tour to Conquer 30 of the World’s Tallest Towers” mission.

“I will proceed to countries with less bureaucracy first by going through government-to-government cooperation, with the involvement of non-governmental organisations.”

She is undergoing physical training and mental preparation to cope with various challenges, especially in different weather conditions.

“I expect to climb four towers a month, and reckon it will take two years to complete the mission.”

Dr Suwaibah was at the launch of the national solo runner and telemovie Meigho premiere at Hotel Perdana here last night, officiated by Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu, who is also patron of the humanitarian mission.

Present was Meigho director

Zack Zaideen.

Dr Suwaibah said to conquer the 30 towers she would need RM4 million. She added that the funds were needed to cover the high costs of accommodation, airline tickets and visa applications. She said GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd had come forward to sponsor the flight tickets and accommodation. Previously, Dr Suwaibah had climbed three towers, namely the Avala Tower (250m) in Belgrade, Serbia, on Aug 31, 2016, Baiyoke Sky Tower (309m) in Bangkok, Thailand, and Gama Tower (289m) in Jakarta, Indonesia, last year.

Zack said the Meigho telemovie premiere aimed to help raise funds towards Dr Suwaibah’s mission and to introduce the solo runner to the community.
