WAN Mohd Fauzul Azam Wan Mohd Rais could not contain his emotions as his fiancee was laid to rest. The 24-year-old yesterday wept as the body of Fatin Arina Mohd Asri, one of three sisters killed in a crash in Jalan Tanah Merah-Pasir Mas, near Bukit Tuku, Pasir Mas, on Wednesday, was lowered into the grave.

He sat nearby, constantly wiping away the tears that rolled down his cheeks.

Wan Fauzul, who works as a crane operator in Kuala Lumpur, last spoke to Fatin Arina, who was also 24, an hour before she and her sisters were killed.

“Fatin told me she was going to take her aunt to hospital. She joked around a lot during our phone conversation and told me she wanted to eat Musang King as she had never tasted it before.

“I am sad that I never managed to buy it for her,” he said after the burial of the three sisters at the Mukim Bukit Gading cemetery.

The couple were engaged last year and had set the wedding date for June 8.

Wan Fauzul said all the arrangements for the wedding, including the hantaran, had been prepared.

“I am devastated that we will never be able to fulfil our wish to be husband and wife.

“The hantaran that I prepared for my wife-to-be, I will now give to her family. Maybe they can use it for whoever wants or needs it.

“Whatever is for me, I will keep it somewhere as I don’t think I will be able to look at any of the items as it will remind me of her, and I don’t think I can stand that.”

Fatin Arina and her sisters, Haifa Amira, 22, and Anis Suraya, 10, were travelling in a car when it was hit head-on by another car that strayed into their lane in Jalan Tanah Merah-Pasir Mas about 1pm.

Fatin Arina and Anis Suraya were killed on the spot, while Haifa Amira died at Pasir Mas Hospital.
