‘Porsche in my name, but it’s not mine’

-

KANGAR: Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin has dismissed talk that he owned a Porsche Cayman, saying that it actually belonged to his son, who bought it a few years ago for business purposes.

When contacted, Hashim said his son bought the car using his (Hashim’s) approved permit (AP) in his capacity as Arau member of parliament.

“I’d never even been in that car. My son bought it for his business using my AP. Automatically, the car was registered under my name.

“It was sold off long ago. I could never afford to buy a car priced over RM100,000 then. So if you ask me, yes, it’s true the car was under my name, but I did not own it as alleged recently.”

Hashim said this in reply to allegations that he and some senior Pas leaders had enjoyed a life of luxury from money given by former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, which was allegedly channelled to the party from 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

Hashim said the allegations were deliberately made by those who like to stir political controversies.

“They do not have any more issues. They purposely raised this to suit their needs. The car, which was bought by my son, has nothing to do with the RM90 million allegation.

“I have been driving a Proton Saga all my life. The people of Perlis know how I live my life. The car (Porsche Cayman) was legally bought my son.”

Hashim said the action of certain parties that associated Pas’ top leaders with a life of luxury was a cheap stunt to fulfil their agenda.
