Two cars, lorry collide after lorry driver allegedly loses control of vehicle

AFAMILY of four was killed and another person injured in a collision between two cars and a lorry at Km55 of Jalan Kluang-Kota Tinggi here on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Mohd Firdaus Januri, 34, his wife Norlia Osman, 33, and their two children Muhammad Adli, 6, and Nur Dalili, 4.

The four, who were in a Honda Civic driven by Firdaus, died on the spot in the 12.33am accident.

The driver of a Proton Saga suffered injuries, while the lorry driver escaped unharmed.

It is understood that the accident occurred when the lorry driver lost control of his vehicle, which veered into the opposite lane and collided head-on with the two cars.

“The lorry driver, in his 30s, will be detained for a urine test as part of the investigat­ion into the accident.

“The four bodies were sent to Kota Tinggi Hospital for postmortem,” said Kota Tinggi police chief Superinten­dent Ahsmon Bajah, adding that the case was being investigat­ed under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
