BACK TO SCHOOL

Children attending a class in a school that was partially destroyed during battles, in the village of Kufayr, in Syria's Idlib governorate, earlier this week. Idlib is the last major bastion of opponents of President Bashar al-Assad. Turkey and Russia, the Syrian government's principal foreign ally, brokered a deal in September to create a demilitarised zone in the northwest Idlib region that would be evacuated of all heavy weapons and jihadist fighters which helped to restore peace.
