PFA non-committal on payment of salaries

- Farah Azharie

FA (PFA) president Datuk Ahmad Amizal Shaifit Ahmad Rafie does not want to commit on when he can settle the backdated salaries of his players.

“They will be paid soon. The management is working on it,” he said.

Amizal, who became PFA president in October, also denied claims that they had no funds to buy equipment for training.

He said PFA will submit their financial report to the Malaysian Football League (MFL) by Feb 15.

“We have no issues with producing the financial report... we will meet the deadline,” said Amizal.

Perlis not only owe their players for the ongoing season but have also not paid players who represented them in the FAM Cup last season.

They have been given 60 days to settle last season’s debt of RM771,000.

If they fail to comply, the RM1 million grant allocated to each Premier League team will be used to pay the players.

“It is not MFL’s fault that we are having problems. They made the right decision to grant us the Premier League slot.

“We did have a plan but unfortunately things did not fall into place due to some factors,” he added.
